Santa Rosa Junior College community members took part in a demonstration calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, Thursday afternoon in the Bertolini Quad at the Santa Rosa campus. SRJC’s Middle Eastern and North African Association (MENAA) organized the demonstration. Over 100 SRJC students, faculty and community members attended the student-ran event, which remained peaceful throughout.

Changes in lighting are used to alter the mood of the scene, and the minimal color variety used for the set of Santa Rosa Junior College Theatre Arts’s production of “Orlando” magnified that effect significantly. This, alongside a strong presentation and acting, made “Orlando” a unique show worth seeing. “Orlando” tells the story of a British nobleman who goes on a journey of transformation and self-discovery, learning about what it means to love and how gender roles have differed over time.

After a meticulous and lengthy search for its next president, Santa Rosa Junior College marked the beginning of a new era at the momentous investiture ceremony of Dr. Angélica Garcia on Oct. 20 at Burbank Auditorium. Cheers and applause echoed throughout the auditorium as Garcia took the podium after Dorothy Battenfeld, president of the Board of Trustees, installed Garcia as the sixth superintendent-president in SRJC’s 105-year history.

Hilleary Zarate, Santa Rosa Junior College student support manager, pled “no contest” to a misdemeanor accessory charge in the methamphetamine trafficking case that led to her and her then-boyfriend’s 2022 arrest. On July 28, Hon. Judge Robert LaForge sentenced Zarate to 30 days in county jail, 12 months of probation and $220 in fines. As a condition of her sentence, Zarate also agreed to submit to warrantless search and seizures of her home and property at any time.
