Greater Houston ranked as the seventh-worst area for high ozone days and eighth-worst for year-round particle pollution. The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is the only other Texas area to make a top 10, finishing in 10th-worst on the ozone ranking.

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, the former archbishop of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, will be one of the electors in the upcoming papal conclave to select the next pope. DiNardo, who retired in January as archbishop, will soon travel to Vatican City where he will vote for Pope Francis's replacement at the Sistine Chapel, he said Monday before Mass at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Pope Francis, who has led the Catholic Church since March 2013, died Monday morning. He was 88.
