HOUSTON (KIAH) – A major traffic backup in the area right now, where an 18-wheeler lost a load of lumber on IH-10 East westbound at Beltway 8-East. That’s according to Houston TranStar. 6:20 A.M – The accident, involving that heavy truck was confirmed just after 6:20 a.m.. Three frontage road lanes are impacted as crews try to clean up, restack and clear the scene, which may take some time after the big spill. Drivers won’t see many delays, but should perhaps still avoid the area.

HOUSTON (KIAH) – Morning drivers on I-45 Gulf Freeway are facing serious slowdowns this morning after two major accidents verified by Houston Transtar. The accidents cleared at 6:09 a.m. but the damage is done as the Friday commute continues to have slow downs. The first crash happened at 5:30 a.m. on I-45 Northbound at the NASA Bypass/NASA Road 1. That accident was blocking two center lanes, the right lane, and both shoulders. Traffic is still heavily impacted in the Clear Lake area.

Woman with machete shot by FBI agent in Houston’s southside

HOUSTON (KIAH) – An FBI agent opened fire after being threatened by a woman with a machete in Houston’s southside, according to the FBI. It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, near the intersection of Milan Drive and E. Anderson Road. The agent was conducting an authorized law enforcement operation when the woman approached with the weapon, officials said. The agent fired his weapon at her in response. The woman was taken to a local hospital.
Three-alarm fire erupts at drywall warehouse in northwest Houston

HOUSTON (KIAH) – A three-alarm fire broke out Thursday morning at the Olympia Drywall Co. warehouse, located at 2525 McAllister Road in northwest Houston. The Houston Fire Department responded to the blaze around 8 a.m., with crews currently working to contain the flames.There have been no immediate reports of injuries. The HFD hazmat unit and the Houston Health Department monitored air and found no hazards. Officials said that it was unclear if the warehouse was open when the call came in.

Bright orange flare brightens Baytown skies at ExxonMobil plant

BAYTOWN, Texas – An orange glow lit up the sky in Baytown on Wednesday as large flames were seen coming from ExxonMobil’s Olefins plant on Decker Drive. The company says the flaring was caused by an “operational issue,” but did not provide further details. ExxonMobil assured the public that there is no risk to community safety. Officials noted that conditions at the site have improved since the flaring began earlier in the day.

Grass pollen is in the heavy range at 32, while tree pollen is also high at 145. Those with sensitivities may experience sneezing, itchy eyes, or sinus issues. Weed pollen is moderate, coming in at 24, and mold levels are low at 4,900.
