Artists have long complained about the low payout from music streaming services. Now some from Wisconsin taking a stand. Milwaukee musician Brett Newski will not release his new album on streaming services. Consequently, he has seen presale orders go up. Milwaukee native Enrique "Mag" Rodriguez and Door County native Adam Wavy also established platforms, Even and Beyond, respectively, that have helped artists find success selling music to fans.

LCD Soundsystem will play their first Milwaukee concert in 15 years this August. Actually, make that concerts. James Murphy's acclaimed dance-friendly indie-rock outfit will perform at the Rave's Eagles Ballroom Aug. 15 and 16. They last played that venue, and Milwaukee, in October 2010, six months before playing what was billed as their farewell show at Madison Square Garden in New York. The group returned to performing in 2016.

Texas country trio Midland will kick off the 2025 Wisconsin State Fair, as the fair's Bank Five Nine Main Stage headliner on opening night. Country rock band Southall will open the July 31 show, the fair announced Wednesday. Tickets, priced at $35 and $49, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at wistatefair.com, and include fair general admission July 31. Friday at 10 a.m. is also when tickets go on sale for the Aug. 2 main stage fair show with Ne-Yo announced Tuesday.
