(WBKO) - Maranya Shobe, the main subject of a child abuse case involving First Baptist Church, pleaded guilty to 10 counts of child abuse in a phone call with Judge Brent Potter in court Wednesday morning. According to her attorney, she was not able to appear in court due to her now residing in Tennessee. An investigation into First Baptist Church initially began in February, after an anonymous complaint alleged a teacher slapped a child at First Baptist Church’s daycare.
