Plenty of maroon caps and gowns at the Knapp Center Friday night, and Dowling Catholic High School held its graduation ceremony on the campus of Drake University.

AMES, Iowa — After days of anticipation, Reiman Gardens Stink Floyd is finally blooming! However, with only a few hours of bloom time, visitors had better get there quick!Stink Floyd is a corpse flower, or Amorphophallus titanum, that only blooms every 7 to 10 years. The bloom will only last for 24 to 36 hours, and the notorious stench, often compared to rotting flesh, is strongest earliest on. Reiman Gardens says the bloom started around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

ANKENY, Iowa — Breakthrough T1D hosted a walk on Saturday in support of the cure for type 1 diabetes and those living with the disease. The Breakthrough T1D Walk was held at the DMARC campus in Ankeny, where crowds of families and supporters gathered for a 1.3-mile walk fundraiser to aid the search for a type 1 diabetes cure. Breakthrough T1D was known as JDRF until June of 2024. Angie Schuman is a Breakthrough T1D committee member and explains the name change.
