MADISON COUNTY, Iowa – Transparency concerns were on the mind for some at the Madison County Board of Supervisors Meeting Tuesday morning. “This does go in the opposite direction of transparency,” said resident and former county employee Michelle Brant during Tuesday’s public comment section. The board voted on a resolution to outsource its IT department. The department helps the county government with technology needs in many areas, including handling public information requests.

GUTHRIE COUNTY, Iowa – Emotions are running high in one Central Iowa county over the recent presence of carbon pipeline land surveyors. Members of the Guthrie County community are banding together and said they will do all they can to prevent the Summit Carbon Solutions pipeline project from passing through their properties. “We go all the way to where you can see there would be a fence line down there,” said Angie Crowder, pointing out her property line near Guthrie Center.

DES MOINES, Iowa – More help is coming to try and solve Iowa’s catalog of cold cases. “This unique playing card deck shines a light on 52 of Iowa’s unsolved cases,” said Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird. During a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Bird announced the state’s new cold case unit will be issuing a special deck of playing cards that will highlight 52 different unsolved Iowa cases.
