EVANSTON, IL — Family owned Mediterranean-style chain Reza's Restaurant is closing its doors at the Evanston location. Though a sign on the restaurant's door suggests it might reopen soon, a pop -up on the Reza's Restaurant website says it's "closed until further notice."Reza's Restaurant opened in 2021, replacing long-time community favorite Pete Miller's after its closure in 2019.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The City of Highland Park began the process this week of conserving and relocating "Miss Nitro," a sculpture that has sat in front of the Public Library for more than 50 years. "Miss Nitro" is a bronze sculpture fabricated with movable parts, mostly of large industrial bronze pipe sections that are welded together. Since its installation in 1973, the sculpture has sustained surface damage from generations of visitors and lawn maintenance.

EVANSTON, IL — A house fire shut down traffic in an Evanston neighborhood Monday morning, according to police. The Evanston Fire Department responded to the fire before 11 a.m. in the 1900 block of Warren Street. No details about the fire were immediately available. Traffic on Dodge Avenue is shut down between Keeney and Oakton Streets until further notice. The public was advised to avoid the area until the fire is extinguished.

SKOKIE, IL — The Skokie Police Department announced it issued over 150 citations in April during its Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign. Over the month, police issued:30 citations for hands-free law violations28 seatbelt citations28 speeding citation63 other citationThree people were arrested for unknown reasons during the campaign, police said. "We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason — to save lives," Sgt. Melissa Russell said.
