FINANCE secretary Shona Robison has announced she will stand down at the next Holyrood election after 27 years as an MSP. The MSP for Dundee City East said she will not seek re-election as a candidate ahead of May 2026. MS Robison, who serves as Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government, was first elected in 1999, when the Scottish Parliament was first reconvened.

HOUSEHOLDS across Scotland have been warned that forgetting a simple cold weather check could cost thousands as temperatures plummet this week. The mercury level dropped to as low as -14C in some parts of the country on Thursday night – and forecasters have warned that it could reach a brutal -20C this weekend. A low of -14.5C was recorded in Altnaharra in the Highlands earlier in the week with the cold weather closing 50 schools in the region.
