A recent reel by a travel influencer reads ‘These places in Germany feel unreal’ as the figure of a woman walks in a mountain. But this travel influencer is actually AI. She doesn’t exist, she can’t feel, and the pictures of Germany are unreal.

Many people assume that you can only travel alone if you’re an easygoing extrovert without a care in the world. As someone with anxiety who has traveled solo to over ten countries, I can confirm that it’s possible, no matter your disposition. Although traveling with anxiety requires a few extra considerations and practice, it hasn’t held me back. These days, I’m armed with plenty of tactics for shutting down anxious thoughts, and I’ve become a pro at managing unwelcome worries while traveling.

After living in Seattle for 15 years, I can confidently say I adore the rainy season. But I have to put an asterisk on that statement because one of its months is always difficult to get through: February. Frankly, if you’re not proactive about it, February in Seattle can kind of suck. I think it’s probably because we’re far from the chaos, excitement, and constant time with friends and family from October through December.

Paris’s luxurious experiences are famous—and a big reason that the city is so popular with tourists. But as a Paris resident, I’ve learned what’s not worth spending on and what’s worth a splurge. For example, I don’t think it’s worth spending a lot of money to get around Paris in most cases. But on my most recent trip back to Paris’s Charles de Gaulle airport, I realized that there was one area in which I was splurging. And I didn’t have to! I usually take a taxi from the airport.

It wasn’t the tourist attractions that made me eager to visit Edinburgh. Instead, I was most intrigued by the city’s variety of independently owned shops. While researching the area I found myself adding more cute stores to my itinerary than anything else. Edinburgh has marshmallow specialists, witchy boutiques, official Harry Potter merchandise sellers, and places to discover local artists’ work. The city’s unique stores were just as delightful as I anticipated.

I didn’t move to Nashville just because I’m a Taylor Swift fan, but there are some perks to being a Swiftie in Music City. I love that it’s just a short drive to go to Grimey’s each time a new Taylor Swift mural is unveiled, or that I can go take a walk around Radnor Lake, one of Swift’s favorite spots, whenever I want. I’m always finding new unique things to do in Nashville, and it’s even more fun when those things are related to one of my favorite music artists.

Due to its commonwealth relationship with the United States, Puerto Rico, for better or worse, often resembles the U.S. more than its Latin American peers. The issue is that with an entirely different culture, geography, and location, this resemblance frequently results in the impractical execution of policies that affect everything from government decisions to resource management. The alternative? Latin America. I recently backpacked through Peru’s north coast for a month.

Americans and the British are often grouped together as being very similar. After living in the United Kingdom for a while, I’ve realized that we’re quite different in many ways as well. Lots of American behaviors stand out here. There are tiny variances in habit, like how we dry our laundry and do dishes. Along with more prominent distinctions, such as celebrating separate national holidays. Learning about the contrasts between Americans and Brits allowed me to feel more comfortable in the UK.
