“Strike out cancer” tournament raises over $6,000 By KAALTV Credit: Tricia Katzenberger (ABC 6 News) – A group of four self-described “bowling moms” held their second annual “Strike Out Cancer” bowling tournament fundraiser on Sunday. The tournament was held at Colonial Lanes in Rochester at 12:30 p.m. One of the organizers says the event raised over $6,383 for the cause, with more donations still coming in. There were also raffle drawings and prizes for tournament winners....

(ABC 6 News) – Two people are injured after a single-vehicle crash on I-35 in Faribault on Sunday afternoon. According to Minnesota State Patrol, it happened at 1:50 p.m. at mile marker 58. The crash report states 70-year-old Terry Whiteley from Richfield was heading north on I-35, when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins unveiled a bronze statue of Hall of Fame catcher Joe Mauer at Target Field before Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers. Mauer spoke as the statue was unveiled outside a gate beyond right field. He joined Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew, Kirby Puckett, Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, manager Tom Kelly and owners Carl and Eloise Pohlad with a statue outside the ballpark.

(ABC 6 News) – One person is hurt after a single-vehicle crash around I-90 and Hwy 52 in Olmsted County on Sunday morning. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, it happened at 5:53 a.m. in Marion township. The crash report states 26-year-old Wyatt Wirth from Rochester was traveling east on I-90 when his vehicle left the road and crashed. Wirth was taken to Saint Marys Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

(ABC 6 News) – Former Minnesota Viking John Randle attended a fundraiser in Faribault on Saturday supporting a navy veteran. 34-year-old Dale Ulrich is battling stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer. His brother, Jason Lennox, organized the event to raise money for Ulrich’s medical expenses, long-term care and to financially support his two children. Crews extinguish remaining hot spots in Byron brush fire

(ABC 6 News) – Firefighters are at the scene of a brush fire in rural Byron. According to the Rochester Fire Department (RFD), they responded to the call around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday evening. RFD says a homeowner was burning something that was picked up by the wind and got out of control. As of 6:25 p.m., members of RFD on scene tell ABC 6 News the fire is mostly put out, but crews are working to extinguish lingering hot spots.

(ABC 6 News) – The Albert Lea Police Department is seeking the community’s help in identifying witnesses and/or suspects involved in significant vandalism at Fountain Lake Park, 100 Fountain St.According to the City, around 7 a.m. on April 3, police responded to a report of damage at Fountain Lake Park at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Lakeview Boulevard.
