    Students at a primary school in Glasgow’s east end have taken action to improve road safety by declaring a no-parking zone outside their school gates. Pupils at Riverbank Primary have raised concerns about motorists parking on the pavements of Sunnybank Road during school pick-up times, which they say has led to several dangerous incidents. Calling themselves the ‘Junior Parking Officers’, the students have taken matters into their own hands.

    A Scottish sailor has been granted a pardon after being sentenced to three months in prison in Bahrain. Owen Haggerty, from Renfrewshire, was sentenced after being convicted of assault. His family say he was attempting to break up a fight. The sailor was initially held in a detention centre following the incident on February 14, and was due to spend the next three months in the Gulf state’s Hidd Prison.
