MSPs have been urged to ensure domestic abuse victims have access to comprehensive financial and legal advice to prevent them suffering economic abuse even when relationships end. Scottish Women’s Aid said victims often received “disappointing” responses from the police when they reported former partners trying to exploit them financially. Holyrood’s Social Justice Committee heard from charities about the financial considerations of leaving an abusive relationship.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have joined children and their parents in an ancient woodland to celebrate rural environments. William and Kate came dressed for a trip to Ardura Community Forest on the Isle of Mull and were welcomed by the youngsters taking part in activities. They were part of Ardura Acorns, an early-years outdoor learning play group that takes the children on nature trails, den building and animal tracking.

Three people have bee taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the A9. Emergency services were called to the busy road between Aviemore and Kingussie around 1.15pm on Tuesday afternoon. Police said three people were taken to hospital following a collision involving two vehicles. Enquiries into the crash are ongoing. Hosting The Open at Donald Trump's Scottish course Turnberry 'up to organisers', says Downing Street

The venue for the 2028 Open championship is up to the organisers, Downing Street has said amid reports Donald Trump has pressed for it to be hosted at his Scottish golf course. Whitehall officials have reportedly discussed the possibility of staging the tournament at Turnberry, South Ayrshire, with the R&A following repeated requests from the US president.

The sugar tax applied to fizzy drinks is set to be extended to milkshakes and similar treats under Government proposals. Plans to end the exemption from the levy for dairy-based drinks, as well as non-dairy substitutes such as oats or rice, were put out for consultation on Monday. Chancellor Rachel Reeves had said in her autumn budget last year that the Government would consider broadening the tax to include such drinks.
