1. IntroductionResearch requires both theoretical and empirical components. This contribution is theoretical. Therefore, it follows the structure for a theoretical argument, not the structure for empirical analysis. It applies well-developed theory in one discipline, ecology, to an unanswered question in another field, corporate social responsibility, or CSR. This is a well-established approach. Economics, law, and psychology, for example, are used in many areas of applied research.
