The New York Giants have plenty of needs coming off a miserable 3-14 season, but one stands out above them all. Even co-owner John Mara said that finding a quarterback of the future was their "No. 1 issue" this offseason. The 2025 NFL Draft is their last chance to find one. They certainly will have the opportunity, picking third overall and high in Rounds 2 and 3, too. But exactly when they'll do it, and who that quarterback will be, is still a mystery.

In a two-week span in early March, the new league year opened with a flurry of trades. Some big names like receivers Deebo Samuel and D.K. Metcalf, tackle Laremy Tunsil, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson and quarterback Geno Smith were shipped off to new teams. Sixteen players were traded in all. And the odds are pretty good that they won't be the last. In fact, more could be coming soon with the NFL draft coming up on April 24.

Every year a half dozen teams, maybe more, enter the NFL Draft searching for a franchise quarterback. They feel desperate to find one. They grow attached to specific players. And they’ll often feel that for the right guy there’s no price too high to pay. It doesn’t matter to them, in that emotional moment, that they only have a 36.1 percent chance of being right. For all the attention paid to first-round quarterbacks in every draft, it turns out their success isn’t even a coin-flip proposition.

Joe Schoen promised to "keep swinging" at quarterbacks this offseason, and the New York Giants general manager sure has been true to his word. He tried to trade for Matthew Stafford (and pay him $100 million). He spent two weeks waiting by his phone for Aaron Rodgers. Then he gave up and signed the enigmatic Jameis Winston, only to sign Russell Wilson just four days later.

With less than one month to go before the NFL Draft begins, something of a miracle has already occurred. Every one of the NFL's 32 teams still has their original first-round pick. It's the closest the NFL has gotten to a draft without a single first-rounder being traded in 32 years. That won't last, of course, and it would be really boring if it did. The draft needs a flurry of trades to spice things up and add to the mystery of who will be picked, and when.

TRADE BAIT! One player from each of the 32 teams who could be dealt -- or at least draw considerable interest -- around the NFL Draft For @NFLonFOX: https://t.co/xLLhzwgFjh https://t.co/WqrhUfpkHX

Good thing they re-examined him! 🤷🏻♂️

#Isles said upper body for Sorokin immediately after game. Upon re-examination it’s now lower body.
