The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday summoned Lahore Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran for an explanation on police officers uploading videos of kite flyers after shaving their heads. Many fatal incidents occur due to the use of sharp strings during kite flying. In January, the Punjab Assembly imposed a complete ban on kite flying across the province with severe penalties for violation by enacting the Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying (Amendment) Act, 2024.

Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Justice Ali Zia Bajwa on Monday castigated the Kasur police over the circulation of a video showing people arrested at a dance party, noting that such an act was “unacceptable in any society”. Kasur’s Mustafabad police raided a farmhouse near Pakki Havali village on April 4, arresting 30 men and 25 women over allegations of obscene dancing and the use of loudspeakers and drugs.

Three people have been sentenced to seven years in jail for their involvement in honey trapping and kidnapping playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar. Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Javed announced the verdict on Monday, acquitting other suspects in the case. Amna Urooj, Mamnoon Haider and Zeeshan have been handed seven-year jail sentences. Qamar, a seasoned drama writer, was abducted after being lured to a woman’s house in Lahore at 4:40am on July 15, 2024.

Access to X has been disrupted since February 17, 2024 when former Rawalpindi commissioner Liaquat Chattha accused the chief election commissioner and a top Supreme Court judge of being involved in rigging the February 8 general elections.
