OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Here at the Quincy Place Mall, it looks like a bunch of people are parked in the Herbergers lot ready to go shopping. But, Herbergers has been closed since 2018, and those cars are from a neighboring car dealership used as an overflow lot. But one business at the mall that does bring in consistent customers is Bubba Q’s. Bubba Q’s has been at the Quincy Place Mall for 12 years. General Manger, Melanie McCoy says a lot has come and gone since they’ve opened.

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - In Candy Fisher’s Thursday morning Yoga Class is Anjelica Gallardo, who at one point, wasn’t sure she could do yoga again. Gallardo said, “you know doing yoga it’s like... it’s a blessing I can still move. “Gallardo had a painful lump in her breast which needed to be removed. Her doctors also suggested chemotherapy -- something she told her family she didn’t want to do.

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The Brain Health Retreat Room at Ottumwa High School is a space for students to use when they’re thoughts or feelings are distracting them from their work and life in general. Ottumwa Schools’ Director of Special Programs, Mike Stiemsma said, “Whatever big emotions are happening, this is a place they can come get calm and get regulated with a counselor on hand.”Stiemsma said students were a little apprehensive about using the space when it first opened.

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - After a sudden need for a softball coach, Ottumwa Schools turned to the man that won 2 state titles with the program. Coach Frank Huston is back to help the program one last time. Huston said his passion for the game is all there still, but he had to evaluate his health before getting back in the dugout. “Because of age and energy not because of the heart but the body it needed to make sure it could go,” said Huston.

OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - The bats have been busy this year for the Fairfield Trojans -- averaging almost 12 runs per game. That’s thanks in part to their activity on the Tonight, versus the Washington Demons, they stole more bags than he could count. Once the Fairfield Trojans got on base... their 1st base coach, Cory Klehm had one mentality tonight. Klehm said, “we’re just constantly focusing on “what’s your mindset?”. Get on base, you’re thinking second base.
