When you look at the area powerhouses when it comes to high school girls soccer the Stratford Spartans are certainly high on the list. Stratford once again made this spring one season to remember as they battled their way through the regular season and postseason and eventually landed in Georgetown to compete for the 6A State Championship. Among the standouts on the Spartans squad was senior forward Allison Goodwin.

MISSOURI CITY – This week’s UTMB Health / KPRC 2 Sports Athlete of the Week hails from the Fort Bend ISD basketball powerhouse program at Hightower High School. The Hurricanes girls program is fresh off of a 6A Division two state semifinal win over Churchill and now is one victory shy of earning the school’s first-ever state championship. The Canes girls play Fort Worth Boswell on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
