There's an authentic new gelato shop now open in Plano: Botolino Gelato, the artisan gelateria founded in Dallas in 2017, has opened a location in the Preston Park Shopping Center, at the northwest corner of Preston Road and Park Boulevard, in a former Starbucks where it opened on May 12. This is the fourth location for the chain, following the original on 2116 Greenville Ave., Preston & Royal in North Dallas, and Bishop Arts.

A bowls restaurant chain from New Jersey is coming to North Texas: Called Playa Bowls, it's opening its first location in the DFW area in Southlake, at 1151 E. Southlake Blvd. #370, replacing another bowls place called Rush Bowls. According to a release, it opens May 17. Playa Bowls was founded in 2014 by a pair of surfers who'd loved the healthy acai and pitaya bowls they had on surfing trips to Hawaii. It's affectionately dubbed "Pineappleland," and features a pineapple in its logo.

A gay bar in Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood has transformed into a coffee and cocktail lounge: Called Pinkies, it's now open at 3900 Cedar Springs Rd., in the space previously occupied by the Mr. Misster bar. Pinkies comes from Trey Stewart and Meghan Harris, who also owned Mr. Misster, which they opened in 2019. According to Stewart, they were looking to provide a more relaxed and cozy space, one that was less focused on nightlife.

An acclaimed ramen restaurant is headed for Keller: Wabi House, the chef-led Asian restaurant, is opening in charming Old Town Keller, in a cute building at 111 W. Vine St. that used to be home to Station Patio Ice House, where it's slated to open in the fall. Wabi House is the popular Asian concept from chefs Dien Nguyen and Kenzo Tran, who worked together on other concepts such as Piranha Killer Sushi and Piranha Killer Ramen; Tran also owns Pho District in Fort Worth.
