There's an authentic new gelato shop now open in Plano: Botolino Gelato, the artisan gelateria founded in Dallas in 2017, has opened a location in the Preston Park Shopping Center, at the northwest corner of Preston Road and Park Boulevard, in a former Starbucks where it opened on May 12. This is the fourth location for the chain, following the original on 2116 Greenville Ave., Preston & Royal in North Dallas, and Bishop Arts.

A gay bar in Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood has transformed into a coffee and cocktail lounge: Called Pinkies, it's now open at 3900 Cedar Springs Rd., in the space previously occupied by the Mr. Misster bar. Pinkies comes from Trey Stewart and Meghan Harris, who also owned Mr. Misster, which they opened in 2019. According to Stewart, they were looking to provide a more relaxed and cozy space, one that was less focused on nightlife.

Hollywood legend Tom Cruise is coming to Dallas to eat barbecue, while on a quick Texas tour to promote the latest chapter of his smash film franchise Mission Impossible. The Top Gun star revealed on Instagram that, as part of a trip to promote Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, he'd be visiting two Texas cities: San Antonio and Dallas. A small Asian chain from Austin has entered the Dallas market: Called Fire Bowl Cafe, it's a small chain that has opened its first DFW location in McKinney, at 4060 W. University Dr. #300, in a new shopping center west of US-75. Fire Bowl Cafe was founded by husband-and-wife Gigi Lee and Daniel Pao in 1996 with a focus on customizable bowls prepared in sizzling woks. They have four locations in Austin and one in Colorado.
