NORWALK, Conn. — The City of Norwalk will mark Memorial Day with a parade on Monday, May 26, beginning at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park (42 Seaview Ave.) and ending at the Town Green on East Avenue. This year’s parade will feature the return of the C-130 plane flyover, courtesy of the 103rd Airlift Wing and 118th Airlift Squadron of the Connecticut Air National Guard. The city has selected Lt. Col. Howard W. Dixon, USAF Retired, as the Grand Marshal.

NORWALK, Conn. — Volunteers from the Norwalk Garden Club transformed The Green into a sea of red, white, and blue flowers Wednesday morning as part of the club’s annual tribute to fallen service members. From 9 a.m. to noon, members planted hundreds of flowers: 210 large pots of red geraniums, 48 flats of white geraniums, and 180 flats of ageratums, donated by the First Taxing District. Volunteers will continue to care for the site throughout the summer by weeding and deadheading the flowers.

NORWALK, Conn. — A community reading of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s 1967 speech “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence” will take place on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m., immediately following the city’s annual Memorial Day Parade. The event, hosted by the Justice Ministry at St. Paul’s on the Green, will be held at the church at 60 East Ave. World Beyond War and Veterans for Peace, both organizations focused on promoting peace and ending war, co-sponsor the reading.
