With Sunday’s 12-5 victory over West Virginia to claim the NCAA Baton Rouge Super Regional, the LSU Tigers punched their ticket to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. HOW IT HAPPENED:After Anthony Eyanson struck out the side to start the game, LSU’s bats got on the scoreboard as Derek Curiel led off with a double to left centerfield. Curiel advanced to third on an Ethan Frey flyout, and then Steven Milam drew a walk. Curiel would score on a fielder’s choice by Jake Brown.

BATON ROUGE — In a game delayed by more than five hours due to inclement weather at Alex Box Stadium, LSU opened up the Baton Rouge Regional with a convincing 7-0 victory over Little Rock. The Tigers move on to the winner’s side of the bracket. HOW IT HAPPENED:LSU struck first in the bottom of the first as Derek Curiel led off with a single up the middle. He would advance to second on a wild pitch and score on a two-out single by Jake Brown. After the first inning, LSU held a 1-0 lead.

The LSU Tigers (43-14) earned the No. 6 national seed and will serve as the host for the Baton Rouge Regional. Jay Johnson’s team will host an NCAA Regional for the 28th time in program history. The other three teams joining regional host and top seed LSU at Alex Box Stadium for the Baton Rouge Regional are No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist (40-16), No. 3 seed Rhode Island (38-20), and No. 4 seed Little Rock (24-32).

The LSU Tigers fell to the Ole Miss Rebels 2-0 on Saturday in the semifinals of the Southeastern Conference Tournament at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. LSU fell short of winning its 13th SEC Tournament championship. HOW IT HAPPENED:Ole Miss got on the scoreboard first as Will Furniss hit a two-out solo home run off of LSU’s Jaden Noot in the top of the first inning.

LAKE CHARLES – Bill Armstrong continues to build his roster. The McNeese men’s basketball coach announced the signing of Tulsa transfer guard Tyshawn Archie on Thursday. The 6-foot, 194-pound Archie played the last two seasons with the Golden Hurricane. He averaged 8.3 points and 1.7 assists per game. “Tyshawn is incredibly quick with the ball and excels at pushing the pace in transition,” Armstrong said in a statement. “We believe his speed will be a major asset on both ends of the floor.
