Shelby Wagner and Niven Morgan open the doors to their antiques-filled Volk Estates residence in University Park, designed by O’Neil Ford protégé Duane Landry. On a Sunday in 2018, interior designer Shelby Wagner got a call from a friend and client. She had her eye on a newly listed house in University Park’s historic Volk Estates and was eager for a second opinion.

Catalina Gonzalez Jorba, founder of children’s clothing brand Dondolo, asked Sees Design to imagine interiors that told her family’s story. Their vibrant Spanish-style house in Highland Park is a blueprint to her heart, layered with color, pattern, and miles of hand-painted scenic wallpapers. “I wanted our house to tell a story,” Catalina Gonzalez Jorba says of the Spanish-style residence in Highland Park she shares with her husband, Santiago Jorba, and their four boys.

Just dropped: Celebrated artist Gray Malin is unveiling a captivating new multi-photo series, a witty tribute to the legendary Neiman Marcus flagship store in downtown Dallas. A cornerstone of style and sophistication since it was founded in 1907, the iconic department store is slated to close after 120 years. The series of 12 images is shot in Malin’s famously droll aesthetic, with Texas longhorns poised at the store’s entrance and window shopping.

In 2015, architect Mauricio Lobeira had a choice to make. “I had in my mind that I would either build a house or buy an apartment in Monterrey,” he says of his hometown in the northeastern state of Nuevo León, Mexico. Lobeira, Gonzalo Bueno, and Victoria Rubíes co-founded the architecture and design firm Ten Plus Three, which has offices in Monterrey and Dallas, where Lobeira’s son is a business major at SMU.

Inside the Young Estate in Fort Worth, the library’s centuries-old Georgian molding and pilasters were brought from England in the 1970s. Dunbar Road’s refresh includes a custom gold-leaf chandelier and Gainsborough silk wallpaper. The Italian side tables are 1940s. Custom sofa and chairs are upholstered in Pierre Frey, Pindler, and Designers Guild fabrics.
