In the midst of the U.S. Congress’ passing of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” by a 215-214 vote in May, the League of Women Voters of Yolo County hosted an interview with Rep. Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena) on Friday at the Woodland Senior Center. Questions were developed by league members and unbiased with no subject matter off limits. Thompson was interviewed by the league’s co-director of communications, Komal Hak.

The city of Davis Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit and design review Wednesday night for a new Starbucks location at 4525 Fermi Place. Chair Michelle Weiss was absent from the meeting, therefore, Vice Chair Alan Bennett ran the meeting. The location formerly housed a Chase Bank with a drive-thru ATM but now sits vacant. It is across the street from Target and TJ Maxx on Second Street.
