AMES, Iowa — Both Iowa and Iowa State's softball teams went into Tuesday's Cy-Hawk matchup with a lot of momentum. The Cyclones (21-18, 9-6 Big 12) took down No. 17 Oklahoma State in a series this past weekend while the Hawkeyes (25-16, 7-6 Big Ten) had won four of their last five. The Hawks struck first on Tuesday, as Devin Simon hit a home run in the second inning. The solo shot put Iowa in front 1-0.

Earlier this week, Haffar picked up his 600th win when the Tigers beat Ankeny, 3-1. Haffar said he was made aware of how close he was to the 600-win mark, but he wanted to keep it under wraps so the focus would remain on his players, saying they make it all possible.

Selena Gomez and producer/fiancé Benny Blanco released their collaboration song “Scared of Loving You,” on Feb. 14. This song is one of many on their upcoming joint album “I Said I Love You First” which will be released on March. 21. Due to the fact that this is Gomez’s first song since 2020, one could tell how precious the future album will be with just this song alone. “Scared of Loving You” was very heartfelt being that Gomez and Blanco are an engaged couple.
