Local 5 WOI-DT, channel 5, is the ABC affiliate serving the Des Moines area. The station shares its studio space with KCWI-TV, a CW affiliate located on channel 23, both of which are situated on Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Local 5 began broadcasting on February 21, 1950, making it Iowa’s second television station and the first to operate in Des Moines. In 1998, the station settled into its current location on Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa.
