Heavy rain and storms rolled through Houston overnight, but much of the day has been mainly dry. A brief shower or two may pop-up this evening. But not much rain is expected. Cooler Mother's Day weekend; watch for rain Saturday will feature mostly sunny skies in the morning, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. Highs will only reach the upper 70s and low 80s with north winds lowering humidity a bit.

The heavy rainfall that moved across the Houston-area this week is slowly starting to move out with possible showers on Wednesday evening. EXTREME MORNING RAIN MOVES OUT This morning's extremely intense rain and explosion of lightning made for a messy a.m. commute south of I-10. Isolated storms are still possible through this evening. Isolated to spotty storms are possible tomorrow, then the trend will be toward cooler mornings and less rain each day.

Strong storms will be possible on Friday across the Houston area. As a result, a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day has been issued ahead of the impending weather. STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS NEAR KILLEEN & AUSTIN A Severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m. northwest of Huntsville and Houston that includes College Station, Waco and Austin. Watch out for a few strong storms that could reach Huntsville, Navasota, and Brenham before midnight.

Possible storms may continue throughout the rest of the day on Wednesday with spotty rain on Thursday. EXPECT WET ROADS WITH RAIN WINDING DOWN WEDNESDAY EVENING A line of strong storms rocketed toward the Houston area early this morning, then stalled making for a very challenging forecast. Widespread rain impacted the majority of Houston and Southeast Texas this morning through early afternoon, with some spots like Fulshear picking up over 4 inches of rain today.
