Alopecia areata (AA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by discrete patches of nonscarring hair loss. Its negative influence on quality of life and association with psychiatric disorders is well documented.1,2 Given the slow time to remission and low patient satisfaction with existing medical therapies, there is a need for complementary therapies.3,4 Support groups are one form of complementary therapy whose use has not been well documented in AA.

Rituximab and Omalizumab Combination Therapy for Bullous Pemphigoid Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is a rare immunobullous disease with no US Food & Drug Administration-approved treatment. Rituximab (RTX) for BP has yielded mixed results, possibly because of an inability to substantially alter serum IgE levels.1 In contrast, omalizumab (OMZ) is faster acting and targets IgE but with mixed effectiveness.2 However, these drugs may work synergistically.
