    Biola’s recent phishing attack, how the university fights cyber-attacks and how to protect yourself On Sept. 20, students and employees were alerted via an email from Steve Earle, chief information officer of the Information Technology (IT) department, that they might have been targets of a wave of phishing attacks. The email warned students about the phishing attack that appeared as an email seemingly advertising job openings at Biola.

    Early on the morning of Oct. 9, hundreds of students lined up outside Chase Gymnasium, eagerly awaiting the start of Biola’s 89th Torrey Memorial Bible Conference. This year’s theme — Wholehearted — delves into how we Christians can worship God with our whole being and our undivided attention. Keynote speakers comprising Biola faculty and guest speakers from across the country dive into topics such as grief, political conflict and same-sex attraction, with Psalm 86:11 at the core.

    Biola’s western campus has some of the newest buildings, the latest of which is the Lim Center. The long-awaited launch of the Snyder School of Cinema & Media Arts (CMA) studio facility marks the beginning of the next addition. The construction site, however, takes up significant space, closing down and surrounding offices, parking lots and sidewalks with fences.     The new school year always brings changes; Biola’s chapel program and its method for checking in are no exception. These adjustments, however, were in the making last school year. On April 26, Mike Ahn, dean of Spiritual Development, sent an email announcing a new chapel schedule and chapel accountability system to be implemented in Fall 2024.
