    CONNECTICUT — An invasive tick species from Asia is rapidly spreading in Connecticut, with numbers significantly increasing over the last several years, environmental officials and researchers said. The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station has reported the first confirmed case of the invasive longhorned tick carrying Ehrlichia chaffeensis, a bacterium that causes human monocytic ehrlichiosis, marking the first such discovery in the United States.

    BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield High School will be the beneficiary of one of 46 state grants being released through the Small Town Economic Assistance Program, Gov. Ned Lamont announced Wednesday. The state has approved $545,000 in funding for Phase 1 of the Brookfield High School athletic fields renovations. This will be matched by $230,000 from the town.
