    DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A man has been sentenced to six years in prison for stealing more than $126,000 from a Highlands Ranch woman through a scam that convinced her to purchase gold bars. Investigators say the scam began in July 2023 when Charlotte Noble, 80, received a pop-up message on her computer warning her of a virus. After calling the phone number provided, she spoke with a man claiming to be a federal agent.

    CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Two more people were arrested in connection with a puppy theft at a Centennial pet store last month. The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 at Perfect Pets, located at 6840 S. University Boulevard in Centennial. According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, three men walked into the store a few minutes apart. They asked about two English bulldog puppies, which were priced at $4,299 each and kept in a locked pen near the back of the store.

    DENVER — The Denver Office of the City Forester is looking for people to sign up for its free tree-planting program called Be a Smart Ash. The program not only beautifies neighborhoods and helps fight rising temperatures but also combats the threat of the emerald ash borer. “We're really excited to get more trees in front of people's homes and do that at no cost to the homeowner,” said Hannah Romano, forestry program coordinator for the City of Denver.
