DENVER — A former Colorado woman who falsely claimed she had a PhD in order to receive a license as a parental evaluator was sentenced to four years in prison. In October 2024, Shannon McShane, 58, was charged with 15 counts: eight counts of attempting to influence a public servant, five counts of forgery, perjury and retaliation against a victim or witness.

PARKER, Colo. — South Metro Fire Rescue crews saved a dog that ended up in a trench near a Parker construction zone Monday afternoon. The rescue effort involved support from multiple agencies, including the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Animal Control and construction crews with Fiore & Sons, Inc. Photos posted by SMFR show multiple first responders bent over the trench. The dog was pulled from the trench and taken to a veterinary emergency room.

DENVER — The Denver Police Department announced on Wednesday that a deadly double shooting appears to be a murder-suicide. The department said it responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 1200 block of South Osceola Street around 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday. When officers arrived, they found two people — a man and a woman — who had been shot to death inside the home. The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release their identities at a later time.

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol is searching for a motorcyclist who is believed to be a person of interest in a deadly Boulder County crash. The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 7 near milepost 30 in Boulder County. CSP said a maroon sedan rolled into a creek after driving off the shoulder. No further details were provided. The agency described the person of interest as a motorcyclist riding a blue motorcycle.
