Opsun Corp., a Canadian manufacturer of structures for solar panels, said Wednesday it will create 20 jobs in High Point as part of spending $9.3 million to build its first U.S. manufacturing plant. Opsun, based in Quebec City, designs and manufactures aluminum solar panel mounting structures for commercial, industrial and residential markets. The High Point plant will be the manufacturer's third plant overall, which it said will triple the footprint of its current operations.

The Board of Trustees for Cone Health said Wednesday that Dr. Yun Boylston has been named as its chairwoman. Boylston is a pediatrician at Burlington Pediatrics and Mebane Pediatrics. She will serve as the board's 11th chair. Boylston specializes in integrated behavioral health and serves on the boards of Carolina Complete Health, a Centene company, and Impact Alamance.

The bill goes to the Senate for consideration, which tends to be more reluctant to vote for official state recognitions than the House. The state House and Senate appear on the path to a cultural and educational clash over the setting of the annual calendars for public school districts. On Wednesday, the Senate advanced Republican-sponsored Senate Bill 754, titled “School Calendar Flexibility: a New Alternative,” to the gatekeeper Rules and Operations committee. The bill limits public school districts to two annual school calendar options. It would go into effect for the 2026-27 school year.
