Gains in U.S. traditional and smokeless tobacco and nicotine product sales is projected to lift British American Tobacco to a slight profit gain through the first half of fiscal 2025. BAT, parent company of Reynolds American, issued first-half guidance Tuesday that included projections of $5.1 billion in operational profit. Diluted earnings is expected to be $2.28 per share. First-half revenue is projected at $16.68 billion.

LabCorp announced Monday it is participating into an educational collaboration for a Master of Science in Cytology degree with Arizona State University's College of Health Solutions. The collaboration also features InStride, a provider of strategic education and skilling solutions. The first cohort in the online program consists of LabCorp employees who began their studies in January. The headquarters for LabCorp are in Burlington.

The state Senate has applied the gut-and-replacement strategy to a state House bill to advance bipartisan legislation aimed at lowering some healthcare costs for North Carolinians. The strategy is aimed at increasing pricing transparency from hospitals and providers. The Senate Rules and Operations committee cleared House Bill 434 on Tuesday.

Breeze Airways will debut Friday its limited low-fare passenger airline services at Piedmont Triad International Airport. Breeze has chosen two familiar nonstop routes out of Greensboro with Monday and Friday flights to the Hartford, Connecticut and Orlando, Florida markets - both on a late afternoon and evening schedule. Breeze plans to fly to Orlando year-round, while Hartford is a seasonal service. One-way fares are as low at $49 before fees.
