The author was a regular visitor to the chain's branch in Cumbria before he found success with the crime thriller series. The transformation of Margate's Dreamland roller room into a grocery store was unveiled by Wicks himself. The art-deco space was revamped to resemble an Asda supermarket, with aisles and shelves stacked with boxes representing reduced products.

Half of adults are being put off exercising – because of the judgemental culture in gyms. A poll of 2,000 adults found 25 per cent are too embarrassed to work out in a gym, and 27 per cent worry what regular users will think of them, while 53 per cent are put off by high membership costs and 32 per cent simply don’t have the motivation. One in five (18 per cent) are anxious about asking for help, and 28 per cent are concerned they wouldn’t use the equipment properly.

Gen Z is missing out on iconic flicks like Citizen Kane, Casino, and Vertigo, with a new poll revealing that 26 per cent of the younger crowd just can't find the time for these classic movies. Despite preferring to stay in (56 per cent) rather than go out (16 per cent), many haven't seen legendary titles such as Apocalypse Now (34 per cent) and Airplane!The gap widens with Baby Boomers, 79 per cent of whom have watched the 1980 comedy hit Airplane!, compared to Gen Z's paltry figure.
