Sacramento State announces Causeway Classic partnership with Wilton Rancheria SACRAMENTO — The Sacramento State Hornets will host the UC Davis Aggies for the 70th Causeway Classic on Saturday. Vigil held for Sacramento-area student killed in crash ROSEVILLE — A football player at Casa Roble High School died over the weekend in a rollover crash in Roseville, police said Monday. Classmates and teammates gathered on the Orangevale school's football field Monday evening to remember 17-year-old Julian Snyder. The Roseville Police Department said the crash happened around 11:15 p.m. Saturday on Sierra College Boulevard between Old Auburn Road and Roseville Parkway.

SACRAMENTO — Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead in a home in the Northgate area of Sacramento, authorities said Monday. The Sacramento Police Department said it received a call just before 10 a.m. requesting medical aid at a home along Northstead Drive. A woman was found with a single gunshot wound and was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released. No arrests have been made and no details were released on a suspect or suspects.

Cal Fire has named the incident the Thompson Fire, which started in the area of Cherokee Road and Thompson Flat Cemetery and has burned more than 2,100 acres. Mandatory evacuations are affecting approximately 13,000 people near downtown Oroville east to Kelly Ridge and up north just past Cannon Reservoir.

DAVIS — Several felony charges have been filed against the driver accused of intentionally crashing head-on into an occupied California Highway Patrol vehicle along a Sacramento-area freeway in March, prosecutors said Monday.
