PITTSBURGH — An Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge on Monday told attorneys for the City of Pittsburgh and for the man who runs one of the largest Juneteenth celebrations in the country to provide an update on the permit application by noon on Tuesday. The four-day festival at Mellon Park in East Liberty is only ten days away, and the organizer, B. Marshall, has yet to receive his permit from the city. He applied for the permit in February.

PITTSBURGH — B. Marshall and his attorney were all ready to go for a hearing before a judge at the City-County building in downtown Pittsburgh Thursday morning, but the city attorney never showed. The city, in a statement to 11 Investigates, claimed it didn’t know about the hearing before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Dan Regan.

SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A teenager accused of coming out of the stands and attacking an official at a fourth-grade basketball game at Shaler Elementary School in March faced a judge today in Allegheny County Juvenile Court. The ref he is accused of attacking was also inside the hearing, which was closed to the media. Chief Investigator Rick Earle has been following the case of an increase in harassment against sports officials.

PITTSBURGH — The promoter of the region’s largest Juneteenth festival has filed legal action against the city of Pittsburgh. B. Marshall filed what’s known as a writ of mandamus against the city in an effort to compel the city to issue a permit for his celebration. Marshall has everything in place for the celebration that is set for Mellon Park in East Liberty on June 19-22, except the final permit from the city.
