    Kindergarteners from Altadena Arts Magnet School had a special time reading in class Monday morning celebrating Read Across America Day. The students are temporarily attending class at Allendale Elementary after the Eaton Fire caused smoke damage to their campus. The students had a special guest read with them, David Goldberg, the president of the California Teachers Association. His union represents teachers from across the state. Goldberg isn't a stranger to Southern California.

    Community is not in a place, but it's in the people. That's what a group of women from Altadena have learned in the aftermath of the Eaton fire.  Losing the Altadena Senior Center devastated their friend group and now Zumba is bringing them back together.   "Community, and exercise and everything," said Diana Lee, an Altadena resident. "We help each other."Lee is a longtime member of the senior center, which was one of the many casualties of the wildfire.

    Law enforcement officials arrested a 13-year-old boy after receiving several reports about a threat made online to Mountain View Middle School in Moreno Valley, a post authorities say was accompanied by a photo of weapons. The boy was taken into custody at Riverside Juvenile Hall after the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station received multiple calls from concerned parents and students about the post just after 5 p.m. Sunday.

    A man was found shot to death the middle of a street in Moreno Valley late Monday evening and family members are desperate for answers. It happened a little after 10:30 p.m. when deputies were dispatched to the 14000 block of Stonehurst Drive in regards to shots fired in the area, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. "When deputies arrived, they learned someone had been shot a short distance away in the area of St. James Drive and Bostwick Drive," the statement said.

    Three suspects in a smash-and-grab burglary at a Riverside smoke shop rammed a car into the front of the store, leaving behind about $100,000 in damages as they stole much of the store's merchandise early Friday. Officers responded to the store at 4773 Tyler Street just before 1:30 a.m. when a security alarm went off, according to the Riverside Police Department.
