After starting the day with a four-shot cushion, Hoxie’s Noah Dowell found himself in need of a spark midway through his second round on Wednesday at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson. “I was kind of losing myself,” Dowell said. “I was 3 over going into hole 8 and knew I needed to get it back. “I threw a really good shot to about 3 feet, made the birdie putt.”It was just the boost Dowell needed.

SALINA -- Andover’s Isaac Homan and Andrew Chan played like the favorites they were in the Class 5A doubles tournament, exuding more of a quiet confidence than an outward swagger. That approach served the Trojan duo well in the title match, with Chan and Homan remaining calm and steady en route to a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Trey Lacy and John Korfhage in the final at Salina Tennis Center. “That Kapaun team is a solid team and they feed off energy,” Andover coach Steve Alexander said.
