Danny Boyle, the director of films like Trainspotting, The Beach, and 28 Days Later, has revealed that he was supposed to make the fourth film in the Alien series, the sci-fi horror franchise created by Ridley Scott in 1979. The director said he was happy to be involved in the film, which eventually became Alien Resurrection. However, he ultimately decided to abandon the project because he felt he wasn't "the right guy" to direct the horror sequel.

During the early ’90s, while he was flashing his abs and modeling underwear as Marky Mark, few could have suspected that beneath Mark Wahlberg’s b-boy cap lurked the soul of a thespian. Now, that’s no longer the case — with dozens of roles and a pair of Academy Award nominations to his credit, Wahlberg has compiled an impressive filmography since making his big-screen debut in Danny DeVito’s 1994 comedy Renaissance Man.

Walking into Gladiator II with high hopes for an entertaining sequel that could somehow match, or even top that of Russell Crowe’s legacy in the original film was never going to be a good idea. Fortunately, after the shambles that was Napoleon, we adjusted our expectations accordingly. Thank goodness. Gladiator II ultimately presents itself as a slightly too-long popcorn flick with enough gravity and action to entertain throughout the 2hr30m runtime.
