Bhubaneswar: A state-of-the-art mega fish market will be set up at Pandra by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). Spanning over five acres, the Rs 59 crore project will be the largest fish market in the state, equipped with cutting-edge facilities, officials said. On a given day, 450 tonnes of fish can be processed at the wholesale market. The Centre has contributed 40% of the project cost.

NewsGovt action against 18 sub-registrars for illegally registering part plotsBhubaneswar: State govt has decided to initiate departmental proceedings against 18 sub-registrars who registered 100 or more sub-plots under the jurisdiction of the development authority. The revenue department has asked the inspector general of registration (IGR) to provide a list of the officers. As per the Registration (Odisha Amendment) Act, 2013, selling sub-plots is not permissible.

Bhubaneswar: In a move to address the cattle menace on city roads, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will set up a new shelter at Jamukoli on the outskirts here. The planned facility, which can accommodate 3,000 heads of cattle, will span over 17 acres and will be integrated with BMC's existing bovine shelter at the same location, officials said.

Bhubaneswar: Nandankanan Zoological Park, known for its gharial breeding programme, is developing an underwater enclosure that will allow visitors to observe the endangered crocodile species in their natural aquatic habitat. While the zoo currently houses 103 gharials at its conservation breeding centre, only six adult specimens will be showcased. "We will choose adult gharials for the enclosure so that visitors can get a feel for their aquatic behaviour.
