CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Christie Ellis is retiring as principal of Manchester High School in Chesterfield County after spending her entire 31-year career at the school she once attended as a student. Ellis, who graduated from Manchester in 1987, never imagined she would one day lead the school. After earning her degree from Duke University, Ellis taught preschool in North Carolina for two years before he returned home and walked into the then-principal’s office at Manchester.

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — A ceremonial groundbreaking was held Wednesday for a new Amazon robotic fulfillment center in Goochland County. Amazon is building its fourth Virginia robotics fulfillment center, RIC6, creating more than 1,000 jobs. RIC6 will be a 3.1 million-square-foot facility with a 650,000-square-foot footprint on a 107-acre parcel. Reports say the fulfillment center will see more big trucks than smaller delivery vehicles.

RICHMOND, Va. — A $37 million infrastructure improvement project along Hull Street Road is scheduled to begin on the city’s Southside Monday. Richmond’s Department of Public Works predicts crews will work for two years transforming Hull Street Road between Hey and Warwick roads using a combination of federal Smart Scale and Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds, along with city and state resources.
