A driver and a pedestrian have been hospitalised after a collision in Dublin city centre tonight. The incident occurred in the past hour on Gardiner Street. Emergency services are currently at the scene. Two protests are currently taking place outside the Dáil with transport delays expected. Kildare Street is blocked to traffic as the Mothers Against Genocide group stage another protest in the area. The group had staged a Mother's Day vigil and sleep-out protest outside Leinster House against the ongoing war in Gaza, with over 14 arrests made by gardaí. A 24-hour sleep out protest is also being held today outside Leinster House over the "lack of suitable special education school placements".

A man has been seriously injured following an explosion at a residence in Tallaght this morning. The man, aged in his 50's, has been brought to Tallaght Hospital for treatment. The Army EOD Unit and the Garda Technical Bureau are currently examining the scene. A garda spokesperson told Dublin Live: "Gardaí and emergency services are currently attending the scene of an explosion that occurred at a residence in Tallaght, Dublin 24, this morning, Wednesday 26th March 2025.

Tributes have poured in following the death of Dublin musician Carl Banks. The Dubliner died this morning after being diagnosed with cancer a year ago. The "insanely talented" musician played with The Dionnes, Gossip Band and the James Bermingham George Michael Tribute Band. James Bermingham said in a tribute online: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I say goodbye to you Carl.

Dublin Bus maintenance workers have suspended their industrial action over a pay dispute for seven days. The work-to-rule action by around 190 engineering operatives began at 9pm on Sunday night and included those involved in maintenance, overnight cleaning and driving replacement buses to the scene of breakdowns. The workers are members of SIPTU who are seeking Dublin Bus to meet their claim for pay parity with their Traffic Operative colleagues.
