The social welfare boost of €1,144 is called the Living Alone Increase and is an additional benefit provided to those living solo and already receiving a social welfare payment. Gardaí have launched a public appeal to trace the whereabouts of a teenage girl who has been missing since Monday. 17-year-old Michaela Colgan O'Connor is missing from her home in Dublin 9 since Monday 21st April 2025 Michaela is described as being approximately 5 foot 3 inches in height with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen, Michaela was wearing a wearing a pink top, light grey jeans, pink trainers and was carrying a cream studded bag.
Man and woman arrested following major cannabis seizures in Dublin

A man and a woman have been arrested after Revenue officers seized 11.2kgs of herbal cannabis at two separate locations in Dublin today. The drugs, which have an estimated value of €224,000, were seized as a result of joint operations conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), and DMR North Central and DMR East Divisional Drugs Units. A male, aged in his 40s, and a female, aged in her 50s, were arrested by An Garda Síochána.

Applications for part of a social welfare scheme that was launched following Storm Éowyn will close today. The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme can provide emergency financial help if your home has been affected by a severe weather event. The scheme is activated in response to a severe weather event. It was activated on 23 January 2025 for people affected by Storm Éowyn.
41 scramblers, e-bikes and e-scooters seized during major west Dublin operation

41 vehicles were seized by gardaí today as part of an ongoing operation to target the unlawful use of e-bikes, scramblers and e-scooters in the Dublin Metropolitan Region West. Twenty residential properties were searched under warrant in Clondalkin, Ballyfermot, Rathcoole, Ronanstown and Lucan areas. An adult male was arrested and subsequently charged in relation to a burglary in which two e-scooters were stolen. Another premises searched led to the recovery of a caravan stolen last year.

Good evening and welcome to Dublin Live's traffic blog in partnership with Dublin City FM. An earlier collision on the N7 inbound after J1a (Newlands Cross) has been moved to the hard shoulder. Delays of 10 minutes remain from J2 (Kingswood). Anglesea Road remains closed between Merrion Road and Simmonscourt Road. Scheduled to reopen at 6pm. Delays of 10 minutes on both sides of the R139, where the right lane remains closed for roadworks by Craobh Chiaráin GAA pitches.

three groups will receive a social welfare grant of €2,000 in the coming weeks. The Carer's Support Grant was increased from €1,850 to €2,000 in Budget 2025. It has been confirmed that the grant will be paid on 5 June. Recipients of the Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit and Domiciliary Care Allowance will be paid the grant automatically. If you are caring for more than one person, a grant is paid for each person you care for.

Met Eireann has forecast bright and sunny spells over the coming days but more rain is also expected. It will be mostly overcast today, Easter Sunday, with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle, and with some heavy bursts later further west. There will be hill, mist and coastal fog too. However, a few sunny spells will develop, the best chance of which will be across western fringes this morning and early afternoon and across eastern areas later.

Gardaí have launched a public appeal to help locate a missing teenager who is believed to have travelled to Dublin. 17-year-old Nawal Nor is reported missing from Dundalk, Co. Louth, since Monday 14th April 2025. Nawal is described as being approximately 5 feet 9 inches in height with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes. She typically wears a nose ring. Nawal is believed to have travelled to Dublin city on Monday afternoon, 14th April.
