Powhatan’s star No. 1 singles player is already a doubles state champion and a multi-time region singles titleholder, but before he embarks on a college career with Christopher Newport, he wants to end his senior season at the top of the Class 4 mountain one more time. Wallace won his state title as a freshman next to senior Jacob Pfab, but has since come close to reaching a state final on his own.

Competing on his home waters, Goochland’s Ryan Lachniet claimed another big victory with a final-day haul at the Mercury B.A.S.S. Nation Qualifier in the James River. The bass angler started the three-day qualifier in sixth place, finished the second day in second place and then landed a 20-pound, 4-ounce limit on the final day to claim victory.

After spending two seasons kicking at Wake Forest, Goochland High School graduate Tyler Black is taking his talents back to the state of Virginia. Black, one of Goochland’s most recent football players to make the move to the college game, announced on his X account that he’s transferring to Liberty on April 28. “I’m excited to announce that I am committing to Liberty University,” Black said in a statement on X.
