After years of welcoming visitors each spring for the Dogwood Arts Festival, Baxter Gardens will close to the public permanently - after giving people one last chance to see its acres of dogwoods, azaleas and themed gardens. The private property on Black Oak Ridge in Fountain City has been open for tours during the Dogwood Arts Festival for 12 years, according to a news release, and it was featured in Southern Living Magazine in 2012.

Severe storms moving across the South and East U.S. this weekend brought warnings of tornadoes and the potential for wind, hail and flood damage to East Tennessee the night of March 15. The National Weather Service in Morristown issued a tornado warning for Knox, Anderson, Loudon and Roane counties from shortly after 8 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. March 15. Areas cited in the warning were northwestern Knox County, north central Loudon County, central Anderson County and northeastern Roane County.
