More than 200 immigrant families and supporters from across Northern California began a three-day march in Vacaville on Saturday, calling for a path to citizenship and an end to deportations. Organized by the Northern California Coalition for Just Immigration Reform (NCCJIR), the march kicked off at Andrews Park at 8 a.m. and proceeded east along Monte Vista Avenue, with participants chanting “Sí se puede” (“Yes, we can”) and “Stop the deportations!” as they made their way toward Sacramento.

Twelve other students received honorable mentions for their work illustrating the theme, “Why is Clean Air Important to You?”Dixon Montessori Charter School fourth-grader Zack Hernandez is one of four first-place winners. Elena Rodriguez, a second-grader at Orchard Elementary School in Vacaville earned a second place award.
