SLIPPERY ROCK — The Mohawk High baseball team hung on for a victory Monday afternoon. Bobby Fadden got out of a seventh-inning jam as the Warriors claimed a 5-4 PIAA Class 3A first-round win over Titusville at Slippery Rock University. The win is believed to be the first state playoff win in Mohawk’s history. The Rockets (18-4) came in ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 3A. “I thought the guys handled the environment really well,” Warriors coach Nick Maiorano said.

SHIPPENSBURG - A trio of Lawrence County competitors captured gold medals Saturday. Mohawk High's Jaxon Schoedel, along with Laurel's Tori Atkins and Alexis Geiwitz secured gold in the PIAA Class 2A Track and Field Championship meet, which was held at Shippensburg University's Seth Grove Stadium. Seven county schools competed in Class 2A, while New Castle participated in Class 3A. Schoedel repeated as 3200-meter champion, rolling to a meet-record 8:59.34.
