Transport for London (TfL) is aiming for a service where you will never be more than 20 minutes from a toilet without needing to change trains, as part of its programme to support “equity in motion”. Due to be completed by early 2025, the work will provide new facilities at five London Overground stations.

15 years ago, legendary folk singer John Martyn died. Thousands mourned a musician The Times described as “an electrifying guitarist and singer”. But on Thursday night, at the Round Chapel in Hackney, his music lived on. The John Martyn Project, a tribute act, played Martyn’s blend of jazz, rock, and folk to a standing-room-only crowd at the historic Lower Clapton venue. They also used the occasion to announce their debut album – a selection of nine John Martyn interpretations.

Hackney Council said it began the largest roll out of bike shelters in London last year, aiming to create more secure hangar space than in any other borough. It says that a higher proportion of people cycle in Hackney than any other part of the city. Lea Bridge ward is currently home to around 80 shelters, with one pending installation and five more currently undergoing consultation.

Isaac Chase Rahman, the Chair of Student Council, resigned at the start of Student Council’s week 7 meeting in an unprecedented move. He cited a “disregard for democratic principles”, saying that the “events preceding the meeting have been wholly undemocratic.”The Oxford Student understands that two motions of no confidence, in Alfie Davis, sabbatical officer elect for VP Welfare, and in Danial Hussain, the current SU President, were blocked by the SU Trustee Board due to institutional concerns.
