King’s Field is Inspiring in its Ruthlessness King’s Field is one of the earlier games from the developers of Dark Souls. It’s probably not surprising to hear that it is very hard and unforgiving. It happily tosses you onto a hostile shore and leaves you to figure everything out. Besides a bit of guidance from a local fisherman, you’re on your own and will be for quite some time. It can feel downright unfair.

Ultra-Indie Spotlight Sunday- That Which Gave Chase Today’s spotlight tells the story of a dogsled team, their sled driver, and their passenger. There’s no better way to travel through unforgiving arctic snow than a dog sled (except a magic reindeer-pulled sleigh, of course). But what happens when your journey leads you into a liminal zone of isolation and madness, where directions lose meaning, where the only guidance you get is from the man sitting in your sled, whose sanity may be in question?

Ultra-Indie Spotlight Sunday: El Paso, Elsewhere The story takes place in, you guessed it, El Paso, Texas. More specifically, El Paso, Elsewhere takes place in some kind of astral world-between-worlds that happens to be in the basement of a hotel in El Paso, where a vampire queen seeks otherworldly power. Your job is to shoot, stab, and dive roll in slow motion your way through a horde of thralls, freeing any mortals who may still be alive. Conceptual Meta-Wank:Max Payne but horror. A great idea.
