O índice VIX (índice da volatilidade), que mede o nervosismo, o receio, dos investidores, contraiu-se mesmo, em cerca de seis por cento.

Os resultados definitivos da sessão indicam que o índice seletivo Dow Jones Industrial Average ganhou 0,31%, o tecnológico Nasdaq progrediu 2,17% e o alargado S&P500 subiu 1,07%.
Contudo, apesar de acabar assim, a praça bolsista começou abalada com um relatório sobre a inflação.
Esta estatística mostrou que o índice de preços no consumidor [IPC], em agosto, tinha subido 2,5%, em termos anuais, abaixo dos 2,6% esperados pelos economistas e dos 2,9% registados em julho.
